Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will undertake an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Keonjhar districts on Friday to assess the extent of the damage and review the relief operations.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to begin the aerial survey at 10 a.m. He will be accompanied by Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari and Special Relief Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil.

Despite being in New Delhi, Majhi had been closely monitoring the flood situation and remained in constant touch with the Chief Secretary and the Revenue Minister to review the evolving situation and oversee the state's response.

According to the latest official figures, the floods have affected 1,446 villages under 492 gram panchayats across 65 blocks in 14 districts, along with 201 wards in 13 urban local bodies.

A total of 834,741 people have been impacted by the floods, while 268,943 people continue to remain marooned. The state administration has evacuated 267,301 people to safer locations.

Preliminary damage assessments indicate that 1,082 houses have been damaged and around 21,380 hectares of agricultural land have been affected in the floods.

The state government has intensified relief and restoration efforts in the affected districts, while officials continue to monitor the flood situation closely.
