Bhubaneswar, August 19: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday has conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the ambitious Bhubaneswar Capital Region Ring Road project.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari for approving the 6-Lane Access-Controlled Capital Region Ring Road (Bhubaneswar Bypass – 110.875 km) at a total cost of ₹8,307.74 crore,” Majhi said in his statement.
The project, cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Prime Minister, aims to ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity, and boost economic growth across Odisha and the eastern region. The six-lane road will be built on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) and will integrate with three National Highways (NH-55, NH-57, and NH-655) along with one State Highway (SH-65).
According to official estimates, the initiative will generate around 74.43 lakh person-days of direct and 93.04 lakh person-days of indirect employment. It is also expected to spur industrial growth, strengthen logistics, and create fresh development opportunities in the state.
