Bhubaneswar, Sept 23: The second day of the Odisha Assembly’s Monsoon Session is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, with the Opposition expected to raise several issues during the proceedings.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is set to raise the issue of alleged errors in the printing and distribution of school textbooks, both inside and outside the Assembly. The party had raised the issue during the opening day of the session as well.
The Congress is also expected to raise the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act (MMDR) issue and press its concerns over the legislation. The MMDR issue and textbook errors had disrupted proceedings on the first day, leading to repeated adjournments.
Meanwhile, Question Hour on Wednesday is scheduled to cover several key departments, including Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Cooperation, Energy, Textiles, Handlooms and Handicrafts, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Science and Technology.
With the Opposition set to raise the textbook and MMDR issues again, the proceedings are likely to witness debate over these matters alongside the scheduled legislative business.
