Puri, June 1: In an unfortunate incident, a 13-year-old girl reportedly tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide after a man allegedly attempted to rape her in Satyabadi area of Odisha's Puri district.
As per reports, one Aju Pradhan allegedly attempted to rape the minor girl when she had gone to a place for work and later threatened her of dire consequences if she discloses the matter to anyone.
Thereafter, the girl managed to escape from his clutches and reach home. Thereafter, she tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide. She then telephoned her father to inform him about the matter.
The girl's father then rushed to home and initially admitted the victim to Sakhigopal Hospital. Later, she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and eventually taken to a hospital in Bhubaneswar as her health condition deteriorated. She is currently undergoing treatment.
Her father has lodged a complaint in this connection at the Balanga police station.
Acting on it, the police have started an investigation into the matter while raids are underway at various places to nab the accused.
