Pipili, Jan 6: Two women, including journalist Sheela Patnaik who was working with News7, lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Mangalapur in Pipili area of Puri district on Tuesday.

According to police, Sheela Patnaik and another woman were traveling from Bhubaneswar to Puri on a scooter. While riding along the National Highway, their scooter slipped due to sand scattered on the road, causing them to fall.

At that moment, a speeding private bus named Sarala ran over the women. Sheela Patnaik died on the spot, while the other woman sustained critical injuries. She was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility, but sadly succumbed to her injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Following the incident, police registered a case and began an investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
