Bhubaneswar, Jul 12: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to return to Odisha today after a medical trip to Mumbai. He is expected to arrive at Bhubaneswar Airport at 11 AM.
Patnaik had travelled to Mumbai on June 20 for treatment of cervical spondylosis and underwent a successful surgery at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on June 22. He remained under medical supervision until his discharge on July 7.
In his absence, senior BJD leader and party vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra was entrusted with overseeing the party's organisational responsibilities. Additionally, Patnaik had directed the party’s Political Affairs Committee to manage key decisions during his recovery period.
Patnaik’s return is expected to energize party workers and leaders, particularly as the BJD regroups following its shift to the opposition bench after 24 years in power. His health update has been closely watched by supporters and political observers alike, as the veteran leader continues to play a crucial role in Odisha politics.
