Graduation ceremony organised for IMS and SUM Hospital students

Bhubaneswar, Sep 18: A graduation ceremony was organised at the SOA Deemed to be University for students of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Campus-1, the university’s faculty of medicine here, on Friday with degrees given away to students who had completed their courses.

Students of MBBS course of the 2020-21 batch and students of MD and MS courses of 2022-23 and 2023-24 batches were presented their degrees. Besides, students who pursued DM and MCh super-speciality courses belonging to the 2021-22 and 2022-23 batches  also received their degrees.

SOA’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prasenjit Mohanty, who attended the program as the chief guest, gave away the degrees and administered the oath to the students.

Pointing out that SOA had been ranked 15th in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2025, Prof. (Dr.) Mohanty said that IMS and SUM Hospital was also ranked 15th in the country among medical colleges by NIRF in the same ranking. “As you are passing out from such a university and medical institution of such reputation, you should feel proud and uphold the name of SOA,” he said.

Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Mishra, Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital, Campus-1, presented the annual report. She urged the students to focus on the use of AI in medical treatment so that the quality of service rendered to the patients could be enhanced.

Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Mohanty, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SOA, Prof. Manjula Das, Controller of Examination, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), members of the Academic Council, heads of different departments and faculty members were present. Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Jena, Additional Dean, also addressed the program.
