Nabarangpur, Sept 19: The Forest Department has suspended Bipin Kumar Harijan, Forester of the Maidalpur Section under Dabugaon Range in Nabarangpur district, over allegations of unauthorised tree felling and financial irregularities.
The action follows allegations that Eucalyptus trees were felled without permission along the Deobandh-Jamadarpara road while Harijan was posted in the Mohara Section of Jharigaon Range. He was also accused of financial irregularities.
The department had issued a show-cause notice seeking his explanation. However, his response was reportedly found unsatisfactory.
Following this, the Nabarangpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) ordered his suspension late Friday night.
Further departmental proceedings are expected.
