Mumbai Parsi families register in record numbers at Jiyo Parsi Registrations
Mumbai’s Parsi community recorded approximately 300 new enrollments on the Jiyo Parsi portal during a high-priority facilitation camp today. This initiative, executed by the Ministry of Minority Affairs alongside the Bombay Parsi Panchayat, focuses on reversing the demographic decline within this Zoroastrian group. Currently, India's Parsi population sits near 57,000, a figure that continues to shrink due to late marriages and low fertility rates.
Strengthening Community Numbers
Jiyo Parsi functions as a central sector scheme designed to stabilize these dwindling figures through targeted scientific interventions. Joint Secretary Shyama Prasad Roy emphasised the government’s dedication to preserving the community's legacy, urging eligible families to utilize available resources.
