Bargarh, Apr 19: In a broad daylight heist, some miscreants robbed Rs 9.26 lakh cash from Utkal Grameen Bank in Barapali locality of Odisha’s Bargarh district at gunpoint on Thursday.
As per reports, two armed miscreants entered the bank at around 3.00 pm on Thursday when the shutter of the bank was half-down. At that time, no customer, staff or security was present in the bank. Thereafter, the miscreants took the two accountants at gunpoint and directed them to hand over the cash in the locker. Later, they decamped with cash.
After learning about the robbery, the bank manager informed the police. Upon getting the information, police reached the bank and launched a probe into the matter. Efforts are on to trace the whereabouts of the miscreants, said the police.
