Puri, Ap 17: The careful counting of nearly 600 sacred jewels continued into its second day, drawing attention for both its scale and unusual events. On Thursday, the team spent around seven hours documenting nearly 80 pieces from the temple’s treasure.
Chhatisa Nijog Nayak Janardana Patjoshi Mahapatra reported that, as the team entered the sanctum with divine permission, garlands unexpectedly fell from the idols of Balabhadra and later Lord Jagannath moments many devotees described as miraculous.
The treasure includes around 598 types of ornaments, with records dating back to 1978. Gold, silver, and gem-studded items are being carefully counted and transferred into specially designed safes, ensuring full accuracy, said Shri Mandir Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Padhee
The events follow similar incidents on the first day of counting when garlands fell from Subhadra’s idol, reinforcing the mystical aura surrounding the temple’s treasure.
