Dasharathpur, May 4: Dasharathpur police have arrested a dahibara seller, Sarveshwar Sahu (40), after a contaminated batch of dahibara sold by him caused illness in over 60 people and claimed the life of an elderly woman. He has been sent to court for further legal proceedings.

According to Jajpur SDPO Prashant Majhi, the incident took place on the 1st of this month in Palta Pur village, Jayantara Panchayat, when Sarveshwar Sahu visited the village to sell dahibara. Shortly after consumption, several villagers fell seriously ill, and one elderly woman tragically died.

In response, district authorities acted immediately. The Food Safety Officer conducted tests on the curd and water samples, confirming contamination. Following the results, police arrested Sarveshwar Sahu and launched legal action.

Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution when consuming perishable food items and assured strict monitoring of food vendors to prevent such incidents in the future.
