Paradip, Sept 6: A shocking murder was reported from Jakoti Balarampur village under Jagatsinghpur Sadar police station after a man allegedly killed his wife by stabbing her with a spear while being under the influence of alcohol.
The incident reportedly took place late Saturday night.
Upon receiving information, Sadar police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police have arrested the accused husband, identified as Badal Swain, and detained him at the police station for questioning.
According to police, Badal allegedly asked his wife Pushpalata for money from her Subhadra assistance to buy alcohol. When she refused to give him the money, he allegedly became enraged and attacked her with a spear, resulting in her death.
Police said the accused has reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder.
