New Delhi, July 31: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and held extensive discussions on the state's development agenda, internal security, industrial growth, cooperative sector development, and the implementation of welfare schemes.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the continuous guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Odisha is progressing rapidly on a new path of development, prosperity, and inclusive growth.

Majhi briefed the Union Home Minister on the state's key developmental initiatives, law and order situation, internal security, and the implementation of various ongoing welfare and development programmes.

He also sought the Centre's continued support to further strengthen Odisha's development journey.

A major focus of the discussion was Odisha's achievement of being recognised as a Naxal-free state. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Amit Shah for his strong leadership in the fight against Left Wing Extremism, noting that the success has created a favourable environment for the state's socio-economic development.

He informed the Home Minister that the Odisha Government is implementing the Gramodaya Yojana to ensure that all Central and State welfare schemes reach the erstwhile Naxal-affected regions, thereby accelerating their overall development.

Majhi also highlighted that proactive policing has helped maintain law and order across the state.

Referring to Odisha's rapid industrialisation over the past two years, he requested the Union Home Minister's support in strengthening industrial security to sustain and accelerate industrial growth.

The Chief Minister further acknowledged the Centre's support in promoting the cooperative sector in Odisha. He thanked Amit Shah for the Central Government's direct assistance in the revival of sugar mills in the state, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening the rural economy.

Highlighting the achievements of Odisha's "double-engine government," Majhi said the administration has earned the trust of the people through direct public engagement and prompt grievance redressal.

He also outlined several major development and welfare initiatives undertaken by the state government.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah appreciated the Odisha Government's people-centric and development-oriented initiatives. He assured the Chief Minister that the Central Government would extend all possible support to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Odisha and further accelerate the state's growth and development.
