Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The India Meteorological Department said that a low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal on Tuesday.
According to the Met Department, the low-pressure area formed at around 5:30 AM due to the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Myanmar coast.
The weather department further stated that the system is likely to become more marked over the same region in the next 24 hours and move west-northwestwards across Odisha in the subsequent 24 hours.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm are likely to occur in several districts of the state.
Meanwhile, the weather department has issued a warning for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Koraput and Malkangiri districts today.
Similarly, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangapur, and Nuapada districts are expected to experience heavy rainfall as well.
In light of the weather forecast, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from September 2 to 4 due to rough sea conditions.
Residents in the affected districts are urged to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from potential weather disruptions.
