Low-pressure system triggers heavy rainfall forecast across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sep 13: A low-pressure area has developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining the west-central Bay and the Andhra Pradesh coast. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is likely to move gradually in a west-northwest direction towards South Odisha and adjoining North Andhra Pradesh, bringing significant weather activity to the region.

Under its influence, heavy rainfall is predicted across several districts of South Odisha. On Saturday, districts including Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi are likely to experience heavy showers. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are also expected in various parts of coastal and interior Odisha.

Moving into Sunday, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms with rainfall in different parts of coastal and northern Odisha. The weather activity is expected to intensify on September 15, with rain and thunderstorms likely across a wide stretch of the state, including Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
