Bhubaneswar, Aug 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that a low pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal today and is likely to move across north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha during the next 48 hours.
The Met Department said that the low pressure area, which has formed over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts at 5:30 AM today, is likely to move west-northwestwards and become a well-marked low pressure area during the next 24 hours.
Under its influence, several areas of Odisha are expected to receive heavy rainfall.
As of the time of this report, the Regional Meteorological Centre has not provided a district-wise rainfall forecast for Odisha related to the system.
