Ayodhya, March 27: The sacred town of Ayodhya witnessed a grand celebration of Ram Navami on Friday, as lakhs of devotees gathered to partake in the religious fervour. The highlight of the occasion was the 'Surya Tilak' ceremony, where the idol of Ram Lalla was illuminated in a divine display of light at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

Ram Navami, which marks the birth of Lord Ram, coincides with the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri. Although the festival was celebrated across the country on Thursday, the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple observed the festivities on Friday. In honour of the occasion, the Uttar Pradesh government declared a two-day holiday, extending from Thursday to Friday, to allow people to partake in the sacred rituals.
