Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies sweeps 13 awards at 70th Filmfare Awards

New Delhi, Oct 12: Kiran Rao’s directorial venture Laapataa Ladies emerged as the biggest winner at the 70th Filmfare Awards, clinching an impressive 13 trophies, including the coveted Best Director award for Rao.

The star-studded ceremony, held on Saturday at EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, was hosted by Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Maniesh Paul, according to an official press release.

Presented annually, the Filmfare Awards celebrate excellence in both artistic and technical achievements within Hindi cinema.

Laapataa Ladies not only dominated the winners’ list but also made history this year with a record-breaking 24 nominations — the highest ever for a single film.
