Hero MotoCorp Plans Odisha Expansion, Focuses on EVs and Festive Demand

Bhubaneswar, Oct 24:Hero MotoCorp is looking to deepen its roots in Odisha, banking on sustained festive demand, the popularity of its commuter motorcycles and growing interest in electric two-wheelers to drive its next phase of growth in the state.

The country's leading two-wheeler manufacturer registered sales growth of slightly over 6% during the festive period, while increasing its market share by 40 basis points, Ashutosh Verma, Chief Business Officer of Hero MotoCorp, said during an interaction with Himanshu Hota, Group Director (Sales and Marketing) of Summa Real Media Pvt Ltd.

The performance came despite the absence of a fresh cut in the Goods and Services Tax (GST), underlining the importance of the festive season for the automobile industry, Verma noted.

Odisha remains a priority market in the company's expansion plans, with demand patterns across the state shaped by regional festivals and consumer preferences. While Navratri typically drives vehicle purchases in coastal districts, Diwali and Dhanteras are significant buying occasions in the southern and western parts of Odisha.

Hero MotoCorp continues to draw customers in the state through its commuter motorcycle portfolio, particularly the Splendor segment, which remains popular for its fuel efficiency and affordability. The company is also looking to tap demand in urban centres, where scooters and premium two-wheelers are gaining traction.

Electric mobility is emerging as another area of focus as consumers increasingly consider fuel costs and changing mobility preferences while making purchase decisions. Hero MotoCorp is seeking to expand the presence of its Vida electric scooters in Odisha as the electric two-wheeler segment develops.

At the national level, monthly electric two-wheeler sales are estimated at 1.5 lakh to 1.7 lakh units, pointing to the segment's growing market potential.

Alongside its electric mobility push, the company intends to strengthen its position in the premium motorcycle and scooter categories by introducing products aligned with evolving consumer demand. The strategy also involves capitalising on rising interest in premium models among urban buyers.

Expanding its retail and after-sales footprint is another priority for Hero MotoCorp in Odisha. The company is focusing on key markets such as Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Angul and Jeypore to strengthen customer access and service support.

Festive offers continue to play a role in the company's efforts to attract buyers. During Navratri, Hero MotoCorp introduced promotional schemes, including gold coin offers, to encourage purchases during the peak sales period.

With its established presence in the commuter motorcycle segment and plans to expand across electric and premium two-wheelers, the company is looking to build on Odisha's demand potential while adapting to changing customer preferences.
