Puri, Oct 6: Devotees planning to observe the sacred Kartika Brata in Puri will once again get access to free accommodation and other facilities as the district administration has started preparations for the month-long religious observance.
The online registration process for Habishyalis will begin today at 10 am through the Odisha government's e-District portal. Devotees willing to stay in Puri during Kartika month can register online to avail themselves of the facilities arranged by the administration.

This year, the Kartika Brata will be observed from October 26 to November 24. Thousands of devotees traditionally visit Srikshetra during this period to observe the Rai Damodar Brata and offer prayers to Lord Jagannath.
Free Accommodation & Mahaprasad
The Odisha government will provide free accommodation to registered Habishyalis during the Kartika Brata period.
Besides accommodation, devotees will also be provided Mahaprasad as part of the arrangements made for those observing the religious vow.

The administration will also make arrangements for special darshan of Lord Jagannath, with volunteers assisting devotees during their visit to the temple.
Arrangements at four camps
The facilities for Habishyalis will be available at the permanent Brundabati Niwas along with three temporary camps.
The administration is making arrangements at these locations to accommodate devotees coming to Puri for the entire Kartika month. Officials are also expected to ensure necessary facilities and assistance for the devotees during their stay.
The initiative is aimed at making the Kartika Brata experience more convenient for devotees, particularly those who come to Puri from different parts of Odisha to observe the religious rituals.

Devotees can register through the Odisha e-District portal, with the online registration scheduled to begin at 10 am today.

Kartika Brata in Srikshetra
The month of Kartika holds special religious significance in Puri. During this period, devotees observe various rituals and undertake the Rai Damodar Brata with devotion and discipline.
Puri witnesses a large influx of devotees during Kartika month, with Habishyalis staying in the holy city to perform their daily religious activities and seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
The administration's special arrangements are therefore aimed at managing the stay and religious activities of the devotees while ensuring that they can observe the month-long brata peacefully.
Puri Additional District Magistrate Sarat Behera informed about the arrangements and the online registration process.
