Phulbani, Oct 6: The Seva Sankalp campaign has been launched across Odisha under the aegis of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, with street plays being used in Kandhamal to create awareness about various government welfare schemes and initiatives.
As part of the campaign, street plays are being staged across villages in Kandhamal to highlight schemes and initiatives such as Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, PM Surya Ghar, Subhadra Yojana, Jyoti Gram Yojana, satellite services, Viksit Bharat, digital services, UPI and Ayushman Bharat.
The performances also focus on themes such as the government's efforts against terrorism and Left-Wing Extremism, along with development and public welfare initiatives.
The street plays are being performed by the theatre group of Kandhamal Kala Bikash Kendra, one of Odisha's cultural organisations, under the leadership of its secretary and young playwright Pramod Kumar Dandasena.
The group's artists have been travelling to different villages across Kandhamal, using theatre and live performances to communicate information about government schemes in an accessible and engaging manner.
Through the campaign, organisers aim to use traditional street theatre as a medium for public awareness and outreach, particularly in rural areas.
