Puri, August 5: Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has assured strict action and enhanced security measures at the Jagannath Temple following the arrest of two individuals caught with hidden cameras embedded in spectacles.

The back-to-back incidents, one on Monday involving a youth from Surat and another on Tuesday involving a man from West Bengal have triggered serious concerns over surveillance lapses at the temple. Both were attempting to secretly film inside the shrine and are currently in police custody.

Harichandan said the government is taking the matter seriously and warned of strict legal consequences for anyone trying to capture unauthorized visuals inside the temple.

The repeated breaches, including a similar case on July 29, have raised questions about the effectiveness of current security checks, despite AI-enabled surveillance. Singhadwara IIC Swetapadma Das said steps are being taken to tighten security and prevent future incidents.
