Udayagiri, Ap 23: Two wild elephants have strayed into the Udayagiri NAC region, reaching the National Highway and causing major disruption to traffic. Authorities, including the Udayagiri Forest Department, local police, and residents, are actively trying to drive the elephants back into the forest safely.
The forest department is using drone cameras to monitor the elephants’ movements and plan their safe relocation. On-site officials reported that two teams are engaged in efforts to guide the elephants away from residential areas and the busy highway.
Forest officer stated that while attempts are underway, residents have expressed concern over the lack of functioning streetlights along the highway. Many people fear nighttime movements of the elephants, recalling incidents a few months ago when wild elephant attacks resulted in the deaths of three people, destruction of homes, and damage to crops.
Authorities continue to coordinate to ensure both human safety and the elephants’ safe return to their natural habitat.
