Bhubaneswar, June 30: Actress-turned-politician Shreemayee Mishra is all set to make her comeback to the Odia film industry with the political drama ‘Pashapali’. The film was officially launched with a traditional muhurat ceremony on the occasion of Deva Snana Purnima at the Jagannath Temple and Maa Saheswari Peetha in Salepur.

Set against the backdrop of contemporary politics, ‘Pashapali’ aims to portray the changing political landscape and the power dynamics shaping present-day governance. The film, subtitled ‘The Game of Politics’, is expected to offer a realistic depiction of political developments and the challenges associated with public life.

Shreemayee Mishra, who transitioned from films to active politics in recent years, will be seen in a double role. According to the makers, the film also draws inspiration from real-life political experiences, adding to the anticipation surrounding her return to the big screen.

The film is being produced by Prashant Kumar Kar under the banner of Bikala Nanda Kar Production, with Dillip Kumar Das serving as the chief advisor. Soumyan Sanjay Nayak has directed the film, while veteran composer Malay Mishra has scored the music. Playback singers Rituraj, Krishna Beura and Ira Mohanty have lent their voices to the soundtrack.

The cast also includes Prithviraj Nayak, Shubhranshu Nayak, Itishree and Rajashree, while Dushmant will be seen portraying a negative character for the first time.

Based on a concept book written by Prashant Karak, ‘Pashapali’ is expected to feature fictional characters inspired by the state's contemporary political landscape. While the makers have not revealed further details, the film has already generated interest for its political theme and Sreemayee Mishra's return to acting.
