Planning a visit? Jagannath Temple to suspend darshan ahead of Snana Yatra 2026

Puri, June 27: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced a temporary suspension of public darshan at the Jagannath Temple in Puri in view of the annual Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.

According to the official notice, Snana Yatra will be observed on Monday, June 29, coinciding with Jyestha Shukla Purnima. As part of the elaborate rituals and advance preparations for the sacred bathing ceremony, the temple will remain closed to devotees for a specified period.

Public darshan will be suspended from 10:30 PM on Saturday, June 27, and is expected to resume at approximately 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 28. The administration has urged devotees to plan their visits accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Snana Yatra is one of the most significant festivals in the Jagannath tradition, during which the sibling deities are ceremonially bathed with sacred water in a grand public ritual. The festival marks the beginning of a series of important religious observances leading up to the world-famous Rath Yatra.
