Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) is intensifying its efforts to boost operational efficiency and transparency across its key mining operations in the state. In a significant OMC review visit, Managing Director Shri Sudhansu Mohan Samal, IAS, recently completed an extensive two-day tour of major iron ore mines in the Barbil region. The visit underscored OMC's focus on digital oversight and enhanced production.
Accompanied by Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Finance) Bana Bihari Pani, and other senior officials, the visit aimed to assess production performance, streamline mineral despatch mechanisms, and review preparations for future capacity expansion.
On the first day, the MD inspected operations at the Guali mines, Banspani, and Jilling-Langalota mines. A comprehensive review meeting was held with all Mines Managers from the region. Shri Samal emphasized the need for strong team building and coordination to resolve bottlenecks quickly, setting a clear goal to surpass last fiscal's iron ore production in Odisha.
The review at Guali and Banspani focused intensely on enhancing mineral despatch transparency. The MD stressed the importance of accuracy in grade-specific ore quality and movement, highlighting the use of digital interventions to strengthen monitoring systems and data integrity. At the Jilling-Langalota mines, discussions centred on operational readiness for its upcoming 12 million tonne production capacity expansion, ensuring safety and efficiency remain top priorities.
The second day of the OMC review visit included inspections at Roida C, Tiringpahar, Khandbandh, Unchabali, and Dubuna-Sekradihi mines. The focus here was on achieving higher production targets and streamlining despatch mechanisms to sustain momentum and meet the current fiscal's ambitious sales targets.
