Bhawanipatna, March 31: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife and later attempted suicide in S. Kundamal village under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi district.

According to reports, the accused killed his wife in a brutal manner and dumped her body into a nearby canal. Following the incident, he reportedly consumed poison while sitting on the canal embankment in an attempt to end his life.

On being informed, police and fire services rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. The accused was rescued in a critical condition and admitted to the Junagarh Community Health Centre for treatment.

The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the police are continuing search operations as the deceased woman’s body is yet to be recovered.
