Rourkela, June 6: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted simultaneous raids at the official residence and office of RPF Inspector Kamalesh Samadar in Rourkela on Friday night and later arrested him in connection with alleged corruption charges.
According to sources, a CBI team reached the inspector's government quarters near Chhota Park in the Railway Colony and his office near Rourkela Railway Station at around 9 pm. The officials carried out extensive searches and scrutinized various documents and records during the operation.
The agency also conducted searches at the residence of a supplier reportedly associated with the RPF inspector. Sources said the action was initiated following allegations that money was being collected to settle cases related to illegal vending and other irregular activities within the Rourkela railway station premises.
The raids continued for several hours, after which the CBI reportedly arrested Inspector Samadar. However, the agency is yet to issue an official statement detailing the charges and findings of the operation.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
