Bhubaneswar, Jul 24: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast from July 24 to July 27, warning of rough sea conditions and strong winds triggered by ongoing monsoon activity over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, squally weather with wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail on July 24 and 25.

The wind speed is expected to intensify further to 40–50 kmph, with gusts reaching 60 kmph, on July 26 and 27.

The IMD has also forecast rough to very rough sea conditions along and off the Odisha coast throughout the four-day period. In view of the hazardous weather, fishermen have been strictly advised to stay ashore and avoid venturing into the sea.

Authorities have urged fishermen who are already at sea to return to the coast at the earliest to ensure their safety.

The advisory has been issued as monsoon activity continues to influence weather conditions over the Bay of Bengal and the Odisha coastline.
