IMD predicts heavy rain in several parts of Odisha as LoPAR forms over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that a low pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal in early hours on Tuesday, predicting heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha today.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha coast, at around 5:30 AM today.
This has developed under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation located over the northwest Bay of Bengal, near the Odisha-West Bengal coasts. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilts southwestward with height. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and become more pronounced over the next two days.
The weather department has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across nearly all districts for today and the next three days.

August 26 – Orange & Yellow Warning
An Orange Warning has been issued for Gajapati and Rayagada districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
A Yellow Warning is in place for Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, and Malkangiri districts, where heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely.
Additionally, thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in several other districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Puri, Khurda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Angul districts.
August 27 – Orange & Yellow Warning
An Orange Warning has been issued for Nayagarh and Kandhamal districts, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected.
A Yellow Warning is in effect for Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Boudh, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Thunderstorms with gusty winds are also likely in the remaining districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada districts.
August 28 – Yellow Warning
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Sundargarh districts.
Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are expected in several western and southern districts, including Sambalpur, Deogarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
August 29 – Yellow Warning
Heavy rainfall is expected in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts.
Thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely to affect several western and southern districts, including Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
Fishermen alert:
Sea conditions are expected to remain rough to very rough over the North Bay of Bengal and along/off the Odisha coast from August 26 to 29. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea during this period for safety reasons.
