IMD issues yellow warning for thunderstorms and rain in Odisha for next four days

Bhubaneswar, October 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, across various districts of Odisha from October 6 to October 9.

The alert is prompted by a persistent weather system, with a trough extending from north Bihar through Jharkhand to northern Odisha at an altitude of approximately 1.5 km above sea level.

According to the IMD's midday weather bulletin, thunderstorms with lightning and surface winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are expected in several regions, affecting one or two locations in many districts.

On October 6 and 7, the districts likely to experience adverse weather conditions include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

The warning will extend to additional districts, such as Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri, on October 8 and 9, in addition to the already affected areas.

Residents are urged to take necessary precautions, stay alert, and follow the latest weather updates to ensure safety.
