Bhubaneswar, June 10: The southwest monsoon is expected to become active again from June 12, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall over Karnataka and Konkan-Goa. Odisha is also likely to see the onset of monsoon rains soon after, according to weather experts.
SOA Climate Centre Director Dr. Sarat Sahu stated that a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Odisha may trigger rainfall across the state from June 12 to 13, with heavier spells in northern Odisha around June 16–17.
The IMD has issued an Orange Warning for districts like Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal on Tuesday. A Yellow Warning is in place from June 12–15 for widespread rain in both northern and southern Odisha.
Rainfall with thunderstorms is also likely in districts including Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, and several others through the week.
