New Delhi, Aug 11: A major honey-trap espionage case has emerged after Delhi Police alleged that an Indian Air Force Wing Commander shared sensitive information, including photographs and videos related to military aircraft and drones, with a Pakistani woman suspected of being an intelligence operative.

The accused officer, identified as M. Shabarwal, was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on May 30 on allegations of passing confidential information to an enemy country. Police have now filed a chargesheet in the case, detailing the alleged communication and exchange of information.

According to the chargesheet, Shabarwal came into contact with the Pakistani woman through Telegram. What began as an online friendship reportedly developed over several weeks, during which the woman allegedly sought information related to the Indian Air Force.

Police allege that the Wing Commander sent her photographs and videos of Air Force drones and fighter jets. Investigators further claimed that he provided information whenever she asked for it.

According to senior officers of the Delhi Police Special Cell, the accused was allegedly caught in a honey trap. Investigators claimed that at one point, acting on the woman's instructions, Shabarwal allegedly got an application installed on a colleague's mobile phone.

He later reportedly realised his mistake and removed the application from the colleague's device.

Police also stated that Shabarwal's wife is employed in the Indian Air Force.The Special Cell arrested Shabarwal on May 30 in connection with allegations of sharing confidential information. Following the investigation, the police submitted the chargesheet before the court on July 7.

The case has raised serious concerns over the use of online relationships and social media platforms in honey-trap operations targeting defence personnel. The investigation is continuing, while the accused remains in custody.
