New Delhi, May 11: The Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted an 88-hour Operation Sindoor Commemorative Run from May 7 to May 10 in New Delhi, marking the first anniversary of its decisive air operations that showcased the IAF’s precision and operational prowess.
Flagged off at 1:05 am on May 7 by the Air Officer in Charge Administration at India Gate, the continuous relay-style run concluded at 5:00 pm on May 10 with a flag-in ceremony led by the Chief of the Air Staff at Air Force Station New Delhi.
Around 600 runners from all commands of the IAF and Indian Army participated, with civilian volunteers joining enthusiastically to support the event. The relay route passed iconic Delhi landmarks, including India Gate, Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Air HQ Vayu Bhawan, Nehru Park, and New Moti Bagh Road, before reaching the finish line.
The initiative aimed to foster camaraderie among IAF personnel while strengthening public engagement and enhancing the visibility of the Indian Defence Forces. The event was also accompanied by a live performance by the IAF Jazz Band at Nehru Park on May 10.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the successful run not only celebrated a significant milestone in the IAF’s operational history but also highlighted the spirit of teamwork and public cooperation, reflecting the ethos and professionalism of the Indian Air Force.
