Bhubaneswar, June 4: The Odisha government may extend the ongoing summer vacation in schools depending on the prevailing heatwave conditions in the state, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said.
The minister stated that any decision regarding the extension of holidays will be taken based on the situation at that time. “If the heat does not subside, the summer vacation may be extended. The safety of students remains the top priority of the department,” he said.
Notably, in view of the intense heatwave conditions across the state, the government had earlier declared summer holidays for schools from April 27. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and was approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi following a proposal from the School and Mass Education Department.
