​​​​​​​Chandigarh, October 7: Senior Haryana police officer Y. Puran Kumar was discovered dead at his residence in Chandigarh on Tuesday. Authorities believe he may have taken his own life, as he was found with a gunshot wound.

Kumar, a 2001-batch officer, held the position of Inspector General at the Police Training Centre (PTC) in Sunaria, Rohtak.

At the time of the incident, his wife, Amneet P. Kumar, an IAS officer and the Commissioner and Secretary of the Department of Foreign Cooperation in the Haryana government, was in Japan as part of a delegation led by Chief Minister Nayab Saini.
