Haryana IPS Officer Suicide: Punjab SC Commission seeks report from Chandigarh DGP

 Chandigarh, October 11: The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the tragic death of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, who allegedly died by suicide earlier this week. In light of the incident, the Commission has formally requested a detailed report from the Chandigarh Director General of Police (DGP), Sagar Preet Hooda.

Kumar, 52, a 2001-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, reportedly shot himself at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh, on Tuesday. He left behind a 'final note' before his untimely demise.

Jasvir Singh Garhi, Chairman of the Punjab SC Commission, stated that he had directed the Chandigarh DGP to provide a comprehensive report on the alleged suicide, including any actions taken concerning the 'final note' left by the deceased. The Commission has also called for an update on the complaint submitted by Kumar's wife, Amneet P. Kumar, regarding the incident.
