Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: There is good news for thousands of people waiting for pension benefits under Odisha’s Madhubabu Pension Yojana. The state government has directed officials to expedite the verification of pending applications so that eligible beneficiaries can be brought under the pension scheme at the earliest.
The Principal Secretary of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, Suresh Kumar Vashisth, has instructed all district collectors to complete the verification of pending applications on a mission-mode basis.
Verification of 63,848 Applications by August 18
According to the department, more than 36.75 lakh beneficiaries across Odisha are currently receiving pensions under the scheme.
However, as of August 12, a total of 63,848 online applications were still awaiting verification. Most of these applications are pending at the block level and in urban local bodies.
The department has now set August 18 as the deadline to complete the verification process.
The exercise is expected to help identify and exclude ineligible applicants while ensuring that genuine and eligible beneficiaries are not left out of the welfare programme.
Eligible Beneficiaries May Receive Pension Soon
Once the verification of the pending applications is completed, eligible applicants can move closer to being included in the Madhubabu Pension Yojana.
The government expects the verification drive to make beneficiary data more transparent and accurate while helping speed up pension assistance to deserving applicants.
With the deadline approaching, district administrations have been asked to give priority to the pending applications and complete the process within the stipulated time.
For thousands waiting for pension approval, August 18 could mark an important step towards finally receiving the financial support they have been waiting for.
