Ganesh Puja 2026: Bhubaneswar Committees Demand Single-Window Permission System

Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: Ahead of this year’s Ganesh Puja, the Bhubaneswar Ganesh Puja Mahasangh has demanded a single-window system for obtaining permission to organise celebrations across the city.

The Mahasangh members met Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena on Monday and submitted a memorandum highlighting the difficulties faced by puja committees every year while seeking permissions from different departments.

According to the organisers, Ganesh Puja committees, ranging from small local groups to large establishments, have to approach multiple offices and submit various documents before receiving permission. They alleged that committees often face delays and repeated visits, particularly while dealing with police authorities.

The Mahasangh said several committees faced difficulties in obtaining permission last year despite having the required documents. To avoid similar problems this year, the organisation urged the police administration to introduce a single-window mechanism through which all necessary permissions can be processed at one place.

DCP Jagmohan Meena reportedly assured the delegation that the demand would be communicated to the concerned departments and necessary steps would be taken towards streamlining the permission process.

The Mahasangh also assured the DCP that all Ganesh Puja celebrations in the city would be organised peacefully and in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations.

The demand for a single-window system is expected to provide relief to hundreds of puja committees and make the permission process more convenient and transparent.
