National Medical Conference in Bhubaneswar to Address Elderly Care
As India’s elderly population continues to grow, the need for specialised medical care has become increasingly critical. Addressing this challenge head-on, the Geriatric Society of India (GSI) has announced it will hold its National Annual Midterm Conference, GSICON 2025, in Bhubaneswar. The significant academic gathering is scheduled to take place from June 20th to 22nd, 2025, at the Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital. Organized by the GSI's Odisha State Branch, the event is poised to be a landmark moment for geriatric medicine in the region and across the country.
The conference is built around the timely theme, "Geriatric Care: From Research to Practice." This focus highlights the event's core mission: to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application in clinical settings. The goal is to ensure that the latest advancements in geriatric research translate into tangible improvements in healthcare for older adults. The conference will serve as a vital platform for experts, policymakers, and innovators to share their research findings and clinical experiences, fostering collaboration and driving progress in the field. This event is expected to play a crucial role in reshaping the standards and delivery of geriatric services throughout India.
The three-day conference will feature a comprehensive agenda of scientific sessions designed to cover all facets of geriatric health. Approximately 500 participants from across the nation are expected to attend, including a diverse group of doctors, paramedics, nurses, and dietitians. This multi-disciplinary approach highlights the holistic nature of elderly care and provides a unique opportunity for professionals from different specialties to learn from one another. The discussions and presentations will equip attendees with updated knowledge and skills essential for managing the complex health issues faced by the aging population.
The Geriatric Society of India, a non-profit organization, has long been dedicated to enhancing the well-being of older adults through training, advocacy, and community outreach, including health camps and consultations at old age homes. GSICON 2025 is a reflection of this ongoing commitment. The local organizing committee, under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Purna Chandra Dash, Honorary Secretary Dr. Santosh Kumar Swain, and Organizing Secretary Dr. Mahesh Rath, has been instrumental in bringing this national event to Odisha. Their efforts, supported by the national GSI leadership and the Hi-Tech group of institutions, are set to make the conference a turning point in creating a more compassionate and innovative future for geriatric care in India.
