Koraput, June 12: When a top officer picks up a broom, it's not just about cleaning—it sends a strong message of change. In a simple but powerful act, Koraput District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan rolled up his sleeves, took a broom, and joined the cleaning work. He didn’t do it for show, but with real dedication. His goal was to inspire people to help keep their surroundings clean.
On the occasion of Bikash Mela, the Koraput District Administration organized a special cleaning drive to teach people about keeping clean. The initiative was part of efforts to make Koraput a cleaner and more beautiful tourist destination, attracting visitors with a pleasant and memorable experience.
In a unique move that surprised many, Vasan took up a broom and joined the sanitation workers at the local bus stand, setting an inspiring example for all. Seeing the Collector lead by example, other officials and staff also actively took part in the cleaning drive.
“No work is too small or big. When we come forward ourselves and create awareness, everything is possible,” said the Collector during the campaign. The campaign successfully transformed the bus stand within a few hours.
The Collector also said that it is very important for people to be aware and work together to keep the area clean.
Several dignitaries including Municipality Chairperson Lalata Ranjan Sethy, BJP leaders, and municipal workers joined the event. The campaign gave a clear message: keeping clean starts with each person, and everyone must help to make Koraput cleaner.
It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the State-Level Bikash Mela 2025 at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, marking the first anniversary of BJP government in Odisha.
The mela is being held to showcase the government’s achievements over the past year and to highlight its promise of inclusive development. The event will continue until June 18.
