Acting on intelligence inputs about Maoist presence along the Maharashtra–Chhattisgarh border, security forces launched a joint search operation involving the elite C-60 commando unit and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The combing operation was carried out in the dense forests of Nelgunda and Indravati, where the Maoists, upon spotting the advancing forces, opened fire. Security personnel retaliated, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire that lasted nearly two hours.

Following the encounter, security teams recovered the bodies of four Maoists from the area. A search of the site led to the seizure of one self-loading rifle, two .303 rifles, one country-made Bharmar gun, as well as walkie-talkies, camping gear, and Maoist literature.

The operation is ongoing, with officials suspecting that more Maoists may be hiding in the nearby forested regions. Security has been intensified in the area to prevent further militant movement.
