Bhubaneswar, Mar 29: A day after resigning from Congress, former Titilagarh MLA Surendra Singh Bhoi today joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Along with his supporters, Bhoi joined the conch party in the presence of the party’s senior leaders including Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra, and Minister Tukuni Sahu at Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
Speculations are rife that he might contest the upcoming polls as a BJD candidate from any assembly seat in Bolangir district.
It is worth mentioning that Bhoi had resigned from the Congress party yesterday citing ‘personal’ reason.
Notably, Surendra Singh Bhoi was elected as an MLA from the Titilagarh Assembly seat in 2009 as a Congress candidate.
Prior to that, he had won from the Saintala Assembly seat twice, representing the Congress in the 1995 and 2000 elections.
