Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: Former Odisha Minister and Deputy Assembly Speaker Bibhuti Bhusan Singh Mardaraj passed away while undergoing treatment late last night. He was 70.
Mardaraj, the esteemed king of Khandapada, was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment due to a heart-related issue.
It is worth noting that Mardaraj was a prominent figure in Odisha’s political scene. He was closely associated with the Congress party for much of his career and effectively carried out his duties both as a Minister and as the Speaker of the House.
A three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), he was elected to the Odisha Assembly from Khandapada constituency in 1980, 1985, and 1995.
Throughout his political career, Mardaraj held several prominent positions, including serving as a Minister and the Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
His passing was mourned by political leaders from all parties, who offered their condolences.
