Bhubaneswar, March 12: Former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamango, who recently rejoined the Congress party, along with his family, met Party President Mallikarjun Kharge at his government quarter in New Delhi on Monday.
During their meeting, they discussed contemporary politics in Odisha, with a specific focus on south Odisha.
Giridhar Gomango’s wife and Ex-MP Hema Gamango, is actively preparing to contest the upcoming election from the Gunupur assembly seat. Meanwhile, their son, Sisir Gamango, has set his eye on the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat.
After their meeting with Party President Kharge, Sisir Gamango said that they had requested a party ticket for the upcoming election. However, the situation remains complex due to ongoing alliance talks between the BJD and BJP. The issue of seat sharing has not yet been resolved, leading to delay in distributing party tickets within the Congress.
Interestingly, the Congress party has already finalized its candidate list. They prioritize candidates who have successfully fulfilled assigned tasks during the past few months.
Adopting a wait-and-watch approach, Congress plans to declare its candidates once the rival parties, BJD and BJP, announce their candidates.
The burning question now is whether the Congress party will give the party ticket to the Gamango family in the ensuing elction or not .
