Bhubaneswar, July 30: Floodwaters continue to create havoc in several parts of Odisha, with five districts reporting widespread damage. According to reports, 5,87,822 people have been affected by the floods, while 1,76,073 people have been evacuated to safer locations. Three deaths have also been reported due to the flood situation.

With the Mahanadi River posing a threat, authorities have intensified preparations in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts to manage the situation and ensure the safety of residents.

Meanwhile, the Khordha district administration has announced precautionary measures to tackle the flood situation. All schools in Khordha district will remain closed until July 31. The District Collector has issued directions to all Block Education Officers regarding the closure.

Schools are scheduled to reopen on August 1, as per the Collector’s order. However, teachers have been instructed to remain present at their respective schools during this period. Leave for teachers has been cancelled for the next four days, and schools have been directed to make necessary arrangements, including preparing school buildings and other facilities for emergency needs.

The administration has also ordered that schools remain open round the clock to support relief and management efforts during the flood crisis.
