Bhubaneswar, June 26: A massive fire broke out at Maa Tarini Bastralaya warehouse at Kalpana square in Bhubaneswar, reducing property worth lakhs to ashes.
Sources said the fire originated from an earthen lamp in the prayer room.
The flames and smoke quickly spread across both floors of the warehouse. On the first floor, where the fire was most intense, all the clothing items were destroyed.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued people who were trapped inside. To control the blaze, firefighters from three different stations were deployed. Fire Services brought the inferno under control after a long battle.
One person rescued from the smoke-filled building is reported to be in critical condition and has been admitted to Capital Hospital for treatment.
Sources revealed that the two-story warehouse lacked basic fire safety measures. Despite receiving multiple notices from the Fire Department, the warehouse management reportedly ignored the warnings.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
