Fire at Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj brought under control

Prayagraj, Jan 19: A fire that broke out at one of the camps at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has been brought under control, said an official today.

The fire department's fire fighting teams successfully managed to douse the fire, said the official.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the fire incident. He visited the site of the fire and spoke to officials and fire fighting teams on the spot.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mahakumbh Mela Vaibhav Krishan said that the fire broke out at the tents of Gita Press and no casualties were reported. 

The fire has been brought under control, he said.

ADG Bhanu Bhaskar said, "We received information about a cylinder explosion. People were evacuated and the fire was extinguished. There are no reports of any casualties. We have been told that 2 cylinders have exploded, but investigation is being done..."
