Bhubaneswar, October 23: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved its scrap sale target of ₹17 crore for October 2026 on October 22, ahead of the month-end deadline, under Special Campaign 6. The achievement highlights the Railway’s sustained efforts towards efficient asset management, systematic disposal of scrap materials and optimal utilisation of resources.
The timely disposal of scrap materials is an important component of effective railway resource management. Apart from generating revenue, the process helps free up valuable space within railway premises, improves the upkeep of railway establishments and promotes cleanliness across railway installations. It also facilitates better utilisation of existing infrastructure and contributes to maintaining a cleaner and more organised working environment.
The achievement is the result of coordinated efforts by the Headquarters Engineering Department, all divisions of East Coast Railway and the Mancheswar Carriage Repair Workshop (MCS Workshop). The collective commitment and sustained efforts of these units enabled ECoR to achieve the target well before the stipulated deadline.
Sambalpur Division made a significant contribution towards this accomplishment, supported by the active cooperation of other divisions, departments and workshop personnel. Their coordinated efforts played a key role in ensuring the timely achievement of the target.
East Coast Railway continues to focus on the efficient management of railway assets, timely disposal of unserviceable materials and effective implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing resource utilisation, generating revenue and maintaining cleanliness across its network.
